Corns / Heloma Durum
Corns (heloma durum) are small, raised bumps of thickened skin that commonly develop on the feet, particularly on the tops and sides of toes and on the soles of the feet. They are typically caused by repetitive friction or pressure on the skin, such as from poorly fitting shoes or walking or standing for long periods. Corns can be painful and may interfere with daily activities.
Treatment options include removing the corns by debridement, wearing properly fitted shoes, cushioning the affected area, and offloading bony areas with orthotics, toe spacers, and custom-made devices. It's important to seek medical attention if the corn is causing pain or appears infected.
